Measure three things before you book
Almost every failed large-item delivery is a measuring problem, not a truck problem. Before requesting a quote, measure:
- The item: width, depth, and height, including feet, handles, and packaging
- Every doorway and hallway on the path, plus the tightest turn
- Stairwells and elevators, including elevator door height and cab depth
If the item is within an inch or two of a doorway, say so up front. It changes how we plan the delivery and how much time is set aside.
What fits where
Vehicle selection is based on shipment size, delivery requirements, scheduling, and availability. Use this as a rough planning guide.
| Item | Usual fit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Recliner, chair, small table | Cargo van | Often the fastest option to schedule |
| Sofa or sectional piece | Box truck | Measure both the item and the entry path |
| Refrigerator, washer, dryer | Box truck | Keep upright; confirm doorway width and hookups |
| Mattress set | Box truck | Bagging is recommended for weather protection |
| Treadmill, gym equipment | Box truck | Note whether disassembly is already done |
| Shop or restaurant equipment | Box truck | Send weight; heavy pieces may need extra help on site |
Store, warehouse, and marketplace pickups
We pick up regularly from furniture and appliance retailers, flooring and cabinet suppliers, and warehouse will-call counters around Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Iowa City, and Coralville. For a smooth pickup, have the order released and the pickup contact ready.
Marketplace and estate-sale pickups work the same way, with one added step: confirm the seller will be present and the item is where they said it is. Wait time at a pickup adds cost for everyone.
Delivery day checklist
- Clear the path and remove rugs, cords, and anything breakable along the route
- Have someone 18 or older on site to accept and confirm placement
- Decide the final spot before arrival to avoid repositioning a heavy piece
- Note driveway, gate, or parking limits and any building loading rules
- Have the phone you gave us nearby for the arrival call
What we do not do
No full household moves, junk removal, debris hauling, hazardous materials, or towing. If an item exceeds available equipment or legal weight limits, we will say so before you book rather than after.
Large-item delivery FAQ
Can you pick up an item I bought at a store or online marketplace?
Yes, as long as the item is paid for and released for pickup. Send the store or seller name, the pickup address, the order or will-call number, and a contact who can hand it over. For marketplace pickups, confirm the seller will be there at the scheduled time.
Will you carry the item inside and place it?
Inside placement is often possible. It depends on the item, the path, and how many people are needed to handle it safely. Tell us about stairs, tight turns, elevators, and doorway widths when you request the quote so the right plan and time are allocated.
Do you haul away the old appliance or furniture?
No. We do not offer junk removal or debris hauling. If you need the old piece moved to another spot, a garage, or a donation center, that can be quoted as a second delivery leg.
Is this a moving service?
No. We handle individual large items and small groups of items, not full household moves. If you need an entire home relocated, a moving company is the right call.
Have a delivery to schedule?
Send the pickup and delivery cities plus a short description of the item. We will confirm the right vehicle option, availability, and price.
