What counts as same-day delivery
Same-day delivery means the item is picked up and dropped off during the same business day. In the Cedar Rapids area that usually looks like a jobsite material run, a replacement part a shop is waiting on, a pallet that has to reach a customer before close, or a retail purchase that needs to get home today.
It is a scheduling question, not a magic window. A single-pallet run from a warehouse on the southwest side to Marion is easy to absorb into a day. A cross-corridor run with a liftgate and an inside placement takes a bigger block of time and needs more notice.
Request early, and send four details
Requests that include these four things get answered fastest:
- Pickup address or business name, plus who to ask for on arrival
- Delivery address, and whether there is a dock, a liftgate need, or stairs
- What is being moved, with rough size and weight
- The time it needs to be there, and whether that time is firm
Morning requests have the best chance of same-day completion. Afternoon requests still get a straight answer: either a same-day window or the next opening.
Cargo van or box truck
Vehicle selection is based on shipment size, handling requirements, scheduling, and availability. This table is a planning guide, not a guarantee for a specific day.
| Shipment | Usual fit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Parts, samples, small boxes | Cargo van | Fastest to schedule, easiest for tight urban stops |
| Single pallet, shrink wrapped | Box truck | Liftgate or dock access matters more than weight |
| Appliance or furniture piece | Box truck | Measure doorways and elevators before the run |
| Long jobsite material | Box truck | Confirm length; some items exceed available equipment |
| Two to four pallets | Box truck | Weight and stacking limits get checked at quote time |
What affects the price
- Distance between pickup and delivery, and where both sit relative to the corridor
- Item size, weight, and how many pieces are involved
- Handling: dock, liftgate, curbside, or inside placement
- Wait time at pickup or delivery, especially at will-call counters
- How firm the delivery window is
We quote the full price before the wheels move. If a detail changes the price after we arrive, we tell you before we proceed.
What we do not handle
To keep expectations clear: no full household moves, hazardous materials, towing, junk removal, loose construction debris, or shipments beyond available equipment and legal weight limits.
Same-day delivery FAQ
How late can I request a same-day delivery in Cedar Rapids?
The earlier in the day you reach out, the better the odds. Requests made in the morning are the most likely to be completed the same day. Afternoon requests are still worth sending, and if same-day is not possible we will confirm the next available window instead of leaving you guessing.
Do you charge more for same-day delivery?
Same-day runs are priced on distance, item size, handling, and how the stop fits the day's schedule. We quote the full price up front so there are no surprises after the delivery.
Can you deliver from a store or supplier on my behalf?
Yes. Give us the supplier or store name, the will-call or order number, and the contact there. We can pick up on your behalf as long as the item is paid for and released for pickup.
What areas can be reached same day?
Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Robins, Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, and nearby corridor communities are routinely same-day. Longer regional runs such as Waterloo, the Quad Cities, or Des Moines depend on schedule availability that day.
Have a delivery to schedule?
Send the pickup and delivery cities plus a short description of the item. We will confirm the right vehicle option, availability, and price.
